What we did this weekend

Chris headed off to California this weekend, so we decided to have some fun of our own.   Left for Logan on Friday.  We stayed at a great hotel there.  On Friday we visited 3 different cemeteries to decorate graves.  I think I have done this nearly every Memorial Day for 39 years.  We did take a back road to one of the cemeteries and had to drive 20 miles an hour over a deeply rutted dirt road for about 30 minutes.  I was thankful that the van had new tires.
Saturday morning we had a soccer tournament for Jamie.  The first two games were cold but dry, by the last two game it was pouring and freezing.  She was tough and played hard.  Her team won 1st place!  She scored many goals and played great defense.  We stayed in Logan one more night.  We were all exhausted and just lay on the bed and watched How to Train your Dragon. (great movie)  Later the kids wanted to go swim.  The pool was packed.  Evan decided he could swim all over the pool without me.  And though he did a pretty good job he did give me a few panic attacks.  The crazy pool made me glad I was not spending Memorial Day lifeguarding like so many other years.  On Sunday we met up with the in-laws and spent the day at the Hill Air Force Base air show.   Awesome!   Our military is amazing. Then home.  I was so tired I didn't even empty out the car.  Just sat there the rest of the night.   More fun on Monday by a visit to the Living Planet Aquarium.  If you have not utilized this little gem in our city  I recommend you do so soon.  It is very fascinating.  Of course we looked for stamps this weekend  found two and looked in the wrong place for the other.  Oh well we will save it for another day.

It's been a while but I am not that old.

Today someone asked me if I was the GRANDMA to my friends baby.  It is a sad day :(
I have noticed that I am the oldest mom at preschool, but a Grandma??  Maybe it is time for a little hair color to cover the gray and a little makeup to cover the wrinkles and a diet to cover the rest of it.

Ryan was putting this bucket on his head so I quick got my camera and snapped a picture.
The next day he put the bucket on his head again and said.  "Mom, cute?  Picture?"  so I had to take another one.

Look what this darling did!

Yes! This is a glass jar of cocoa all over the floor.
I do feel a little bad, the jar did hit him on the head on the way to the floor.

What I saw the other day

It was much more beautiful in person.  It was a full double rainbow.

Update

Half a day, a gallon of gas and a copayment later....He's fine!  Apparently these  cysts are nothing to worry about. The doctor hardly looked at him.  Didn't touch him except to measure his head and told me to come back in a year.  Couldn't they have told me this on the phone?

Emergency Room

This boy likes to climb! Can't keep him off of anything!  Yesterday he fell and got a skull fracture and a pretty nasty concusion.  Spent the better part of the night at the emergency room with him. Was he cranky,  he didn't like the braclet they put on him,  he didn't like the room they put us in,  he didn't want the tv on  or for me to sit down.  When he finally did fall asleep the doctors  wanted me to wake him up.  A CT scan later he is diagnosed with a skull fracture with no bleeding.  There is no treatment, so we head home at midnight.  The discharge paper reccomends  bed rest for 24 hours.  Have you ever tried to get a 2 year old to sit still for 24 hours? Though he seems fine today they also diagnosed him with a large arachnoid cyst.  Hopefully it is nothing, but he gets to follow up with a nuerologist in a few weeks.

A Year Older!

With Valentines day comes my birthday!
We had a great time and had some yummy and so cute cake that my friend Julie made for me.
On a sad note the day after my Birthday was my niece Katelyns 16th Birthday.  We miss her.

Valentines Day Fun

For Valentines Day  we had to make a box for Casey.  We had just seen the movie Despicable Me so we went with this minion design.  It turned out pretty cute!  It is hard with boys, they don't want the traditional pink box covered in hearts and sparkles.  We have to be a little creative.
Grandma Horne got all the kids cute Valentines day shirts.  We took thier pictures but they are not very cooperative models.  Cute yes, cooperative NO!

Jamie's dance recital 2010

Just had to add this cute picture of Jamie at her recital this year.  She loves dance and is really good at it.   This is one of her best friends with her.  I had the camera sitting out so I could take it with me.  Then  right before we left I found our camera had been dipped in water by one of the little boys.  Luckily Chris took this one with his I pod so we got at least one.  As much as I love this dance recital, it makes me a little crazy.  It is always the weekend of our anniversary and Jamies birthday.  As if I didn't have enough to do.

Conversations with 4 year olds

This evening Evan and I were sitting at the table enjoying a bowl of ice cream. He asks me "can bad guys shoot through our door and get in?"  I reassure him that they cannot.  He said "Maybe we should get a gun! A glue gun and we can shoot glue all over the floor and they will get stuck and not be able to get us."  This whole conversation included him jumping off the chair, making a gun with his finger and firing glue all over the dining room.  You got to love this kid.

An Identity Crisis

Jamie just could not decide on one costume this year so she alternated between the three.  I loved the witch the best.  It was my costume when I was her age.

Love Those Snowy Days

Everyone here has been enjoying the snow.  The kiddos love to play in it.  We are so lucky to have a sled hill very near our house.  The kids have been over there every day to slide.

General Cuteness

One of his favorite places to be is on the cupboards.  He has recently found light switches and love for me to hold him up and turn them on and off over and over and over.........

Evan Turns 4!

Wow! A big 4 years old.  I love this quirky, fun, gregarious, high energy, stubborn, sweet, sassy, star wars lovin  kid!
He always keeps the whole family on their toes.
Two funny stories about Evan:
One day he decided that if I would not take him to his friends house that he would just take himself.  He hopped on his scooter and was on his way.  I did not realize that he was headed out.  A few minutes later my neighbor from across the street came over and said, "I have so and so I the phone and they found Evan on the other side of the river headed to his friends."  I hopped in the car and drove over and sure enough there he was scootering along with some ladies in my ward following him in their car.  The good news is, he would not get in their car.  They did not have any candy, gum, popsicles, or puppies, I guess.  So thanks to all my guardian angels who watch out for my precious boy.

And, the other night we were in the car.  He was sucking on his shirt and getting it really wet.  I asked him to stop and he said "But mom there is drink in it."  I know, gross, but still kind of funny.

Grandma turns 60

My mom turned 60 this year!  We had a great party.   I spent a lot of hours scanning old pictures of my mom and making a slide show.  I thought I would share some of my favorites of my mom.  My mom raised 9 kids when she was younger than me.  After she divorced she raised 5 of us by herself through most of our teen years.  What a super woman.  We were not easy kids.  But, I have to say we all turned out well.  So thanks Mom!

This is me when I was several weeks old.

Jamie Lost her 2 Front Teeth

Pictures to come at a later date.

Wendover Air Show

Today we went to the airshow in Wendover!  It was sooo much fun!  We loved the F-16 Fighting Falcon and the Super Hornet.  Man,  those planes are fast and loud.  By the time the sound hits you the planes are long gone.  The kids had fun though it was very hot.  We went played at the park in Wendover and went to a mediocre buffet.  Of course we found a cool letterbox in Wendover.  We are adding more to our book every week!

New Stamp Book

OK so apparently it is tacky to have a stamp log with lined paper.  So I went on a search to get a new book with plain paper and found one.  I am sad that my other book will be retired.  We went to the zoo yesterday.  What do you know?  There is one there too.  The baby elephant was so darling she is worth going to the zoo just to see her.
